We handle legal matters involving evaluations, eligibility, services, placement, discipline, and special education due process. Whether the matter fits the legal work we handle is determined from the record: the IEP, the timeline, and the requests you have already made.

Evaluations
When the school delays, denies, or stalls an evaluation, the record of what you asked for and what the school said matters. We review what happened and what the law requires.
Eligibility
A child found ineligible may still have a right to be evaluated again as needs change. We review eligibility decisions against the record.
IEP implementation
Services, accommodations, and specialized instruction written into the plan have to actually happen. When they do not, the gap between the plan and the school day is the starting point of the review.
Placement
A proposed placement has to match what your child needs. We review proposed changes against the record of what the school knows about your child.
School discipline
Suspensions, shortened days, and removals can be the way a school manages a disability-related behavior. Discipline that follows from unmet IEP needs deserves a closer look.
State complaints
Some disputes belong in a state complaint rather than a courtroom. We review which route fits the problem and the state involved.
Mediation
Mediation can resolve a disagreement without a hearing. We review whether it fits, and what an agreement should say.
Due process
Due process is a formal dispute-resolution process under the IDEA for certain disagreements involving identification, evaluation, educational placement, or a child's right to a free appropriate public education. Whether it is appropriate depends on the facts and the record.
Fees
How fees are handled
Do not rule out legal help because you assume you cannot afford it. How attorney's fees are handled depends on the type of case and applicable law.
Qualifying due process matters
In many qualifying due process matters, families may not need to pay attorney's fees upfront.
Other matters
Other matters, including some tuition-reimbursement cases, can involve different fee arrangements. We review how fees would be handled as part of the case evaluation.
Before you decide
We explain the scope of representation and fee arrangement before you move forward.
Tell us what's happening
You do not need the right legal words. Tell us what your child is missing, what the school has said, and what you have already tried. We will start there. We do not represent families directly at IEP meetings.
